When someone uses a copyrighted work, they must always credit the author in the manner specified by the author. Authorship is usually indicated by the author’s name and surname. The right of attribution is one of the moral rights and is stipulated in Article 18 of the Copyright and Related Rights Act.
Example: Person X.Y. publishes a photograph under a license that includes the abbreviation “BY”. Another person wishes to use the photograph on their website. When publishing it, they must include a credit such as “Photograph bx X.Y.”.
