What should you do if you want to use or make a work public but do not know who the author is?

The author’s right of attribution must always be respected. It is also important to carefully review all available sources and make reasonable efforts to identify the author. In the case of anonymous works where use is explicitly permitted, the work may be used without attribution, or with a note stating that the author is anonymous.
